Outputs Quality Profile
The outcome of the assessment and the expression of the qualitative level of research, development, artistic and other creative activity of a public higher education institution or a public research institution, or its constituent part, in the selected research area consists of three partial quality profiles for the individual assessment domains and one overall quality profile of the unit, determined as a weighted value of the assessment domains (outputs – social impact – creative environment). A total of 25 outputs of research, development, artistic and other creative activity forming an application for assessment are, on the basis of the assessment by the relevant panel, classified into five qualitative categories – quality levels, from the highest to the lowest (in numerical expression):
- World-leading quality
- Internationally excellent quality
- Internationally recognized quality
- Nationally recognized quality
- Below the standard of nationally recognized work
The resulting quality profile for the institution or its constituent part that submitted the application for assessment expresses the proportion of outputs assigned to each of the five quality levels within the given application. This is a percentage representation of the numbers of outputs classified as world‑leading, internationally excellent, internationally recognised, nationally recognised, and below the standard of nationally recognised work quality within the application submitted to the periodic assessment.
The fifth qualitative category also includes so‑called “zero” outputs (which, based on the principles for the selection of outputs for assessment, also reflect a lack of creative outputs of the institution or its constituent part in the given field of research), as well as outputs that are neither scientific nor creative. Example: An application for assessment containing 25 outputs was evaluated by the Sub-panel. Two outputs were classified as world-leading quality, five outputs were classified as internationally excellent quality, twelve outputs were classified as internationally recognized quality, four outputs were classified as nationally recognized quality, and two outputs were rated below the national quality category and were therefore classified as below the standard of nationally recognised work. The resulting quality profile for a given institution/workplace in a given research area is assessment of 8 – 20 – 48 – 16 – 8 (in percentages; from world-leading quality category to unranked category).

Note: Percentages in the quality profile graphs are shown to two decimal places (values are truncated, not rounded). As a result, the total may not equal exactly 100% and can differ slightly (e.g., 100.01% or 99.99%).
